Noticeboard
Introduction

Posting your own ads

First: read our Policy page.

Then, if you want to post something yourself, you'll need an account. To create an account you just have to have an email address. Click on the "Create my account" link below to go to the page where you can enter your email address. Your account will then be created automatically, and a password will be generated and emailed to you.

Create my account

If you already have an account but have forgotten your password, click on the "I have lost my password" link below. This will take you to a page where you can enter your email address and have a new password generated and emailed to you. You can also use this link just to have your password changed in case you think someone might have worked out what it is.

I have lost my password

Once you have your account password, click on the My Account link (also at the top of every Noticeboard page), and then log in using your email address and your password.

In My Account you can create your own posts in any of the noticeboard sections, or you can edit any existing posts of yours.

Posts automatically expire after a certain number of days (the actual number of days for each section is shown in brackets next to the section names on the main Noticeboard page). This expiry ensures that what's on the noticeboard is always current.

Some notes on using the Noticeboard

  • Most important: there are no guarantees of service here. While the Noticeboard is designed to provide good service, you get what you pay for. If the systems crash or problems occur, files, ads, posts, etc. may be lost.

  • When you get to the My Account page you'll see that you have a certain number of posts allocated to you in each section of the Noticeboard. These don't need to go in the same region or subsection.

For example, if you have a business which trades in Melbourne and Sydney, you can use two of your posts in the "Professional" section to have an ad in each of the Melbourne and Sydney subsections.

Likewise, if you're advertising for a partner (or partners) and you're a traveller, you can post personal ads in multiple regions.

  • The Noticeboard remembers your posts, even after they have expired. You can renew expired ads whenever you wish. You can also "expire" ads prematurely once they've served their purpose. For example, suppose you advertise for a partner and your ideal someone replies to your ad straight away. You can go to My Account and expire your ad immediately so you don't get any more replies.

But then, if that ideal someone proves to be less than ideal and you part ways, the Noticeboard still remembers your old ad. You can update it without having to type it all in again and be back in the market straight away.

Also if you you run a business, you can have a small selection of ads that you get the Noticeboard to display whenever you want.

There are limits to how many ads you can have in any section at any one. You'll find out what these limits are on the My Account page.
